Good design optimizes resources and processes, leading to cost savings in two phases; first during production; good design uses less materials and less energy preferably, and thus it makes products more affordable to produce and purchase (but who are we kidding? greedy corpos would just charge you more but you are still better of because less energy use means a better environment for you even if you pay it the same price while it costs them less you win always with good design) and then good design reduces costs for consumers; being well-designed, these good design products work better, are more durable and usually less taxing on the environment, so in the end you win.
