Every product has a lifetime, and it is hard to keep a product alive for long periods of time especially if it is not designed good initially; think of these; a physical product would need replacement parts, replacement materials, consumables, you need to be able to also commit to producing them for a long time, if you care slightest for the people and you should. As a designer, remember that designing a product is just the beginning; ensuring its long-term success requires ongoing maintenance, updates, and support from you. Sustaining a product's quality and relevance is a significant challenge. This applies also to digital products, services, maintaining quality, and sometimes maintaining existence is simply hard.
