Onur Cobanli explains:
Poor design succeeds in the marketplace only when consumers lack proper knowledge or understanding. When buyers are well-informed and educated about product qualities, they naturally gravitate toward better design solutions. When the buyer is educated, they tend to buy good design, but when the buyer is not educated or wise to the facts that a product is poor quality, bad design, the buyer may mistakenly buy bad design, in a world where all customers are knowledgeable, bad design would be less likely to exist, the only reason why it would still exist even with perfect information symmetry because even bad design could be considered good, when the price is right.
