Nothing to do with capitalism or sorts, profitable here means valuable, valuable for the producer as well as the consumers; great design benefits the consumers; it is more valuable from a consumers point for example because it lasts longer but also since it is great design it costs less to produce, it is valued more but sold for less, thinking of the bigger picture, that makes great design better than sustainable good design.
