Art has function; it satisfies its creator or the society, design has social function, it perhaps does not satisfy its creator but fulfills a social need. Art has emotional function, design usually has physical function, design could also have emotional function, good design has both physical and emotional function but any design shall have function, and different from art, design must have a function either emotional or physical valued for the society and not necessarily an individual, art could satisfy a single person but design should satisfy the masses. If a so called design is just satisfying the needs of a single entity that is a solution but not design, as any design shall have function, and use for the society.
