The basic economics principle is utility; people try to maximise their utility (happiness) through their (hopefully) intelligent and wise choices. Thus, if something is not happy, it is against economy; if it is not happy it would not be purchased or demanded, if it is not demanded, there is no need to produce it; it is uneconomic.
