Ideas are important, you need to believe in your ideas to make them real, but devotion, blind devotion is a risk, it is always better to have a little suspicion, and listen but not necessarily act on what others say about your idea, thinking and reflecting is healthy, keeping your idea while others say no is also okay but as long as you justify inside your mind that this is okay, and justification means an internal discussion, when you believe, you think and question it once in a while, a blind devotee never questions, and not questioning is a big, very big risk that you do not wish to take if you want to come up with a great design.
