I am a firm believer that user friendly designs will not force you to read an instruction manual. Yet, I also remember that someone thought me how to use a chair; a product that never comes with an instruction manual; a chair; you can sit on it, you can step on it, you can kill yourself with a chair, and your mother thought you how to survive a chair. So yes, even the simplest products might need instructions it seems. When I make a design, I like to explain how it could be used better, at greatest efficiency; how it could be maintained, cleaned, repaired, improved or enjoyed better. I like warning for things not to do, and hinting things that could be done. I believe in the power of instruction manual. I hate them when I need to read them, but I love them when I want to get the best out of a product. Mixed feelings!.
