Onur Cobanli explains:
Good designers must be great learners because good design requires an intense amount of knowledge, access to multiple domains of knowledge, science and information, which is not only ever-growing but also ever-changing; good designers should expand their wisdom, information capacity to be able to connect the dots within multiple domains of knowledge and science to come up with superior products and projects that benefit and advance society. For example, let's imagine a chair designer, a chair designer should know ergonomics, material science, marketing, social psychology, economics, engineering, logistics, and much more distinct fields of studies to be able to design a good chair that adheres to market requirements, easy to be transported, durable, socially acceptable, ergonomically comfortable, and compliant with social expectations. Good designers must be great learners, and continuously keep learning to better themselves, because good design requires one to be a polymath, and the way to becoming a polymath is reading, watching, listening, and ultimately learning.
