Feedback is important because designers cannot see their own mistakes, not listening to feedback is also relevant because a good designer shall have a healthy level of ego to create original and innovative works that deviate from the norms as well as a healty control over their ego to keep their designs in check with reality. The balance of listening to feedback and not listening to it is important, you may start with feedback and deviate from it or you can start with a deviation and course back to norms listening to feedback, in the end you need both; you should know when to listen and when to not listen feedback.
