Onur Cobanli explains:
Great design is different from good design in sense that great designs are usually heirloom items that we keep generation to generation as they do not lose their aesthetic appeal or depreciate in value; great designs inspire us with their emotional contents; the emotional content comes from many parts; some examples include for example exceptional engineering and thoughts that were embedded in the design; people love to see that the artifact they hold in their hands is an hallmark of human ingenuity another element maybe the exceptional aesthetics; even after their initial purpose of fulfilling a specific function is long gone, great products retain their artistic value; they keep inspiring for generations to come. But let’s not undervalue good design; you need good inspiration and a great deal of work to come up with a good design; it is just that not all good design is great design.
