The need to do the best is a force to recon with as it is purely driven by ego; to show the World you can. I think the second very best motivation to start with a design is to have a need that is not satisfied by anything else that yet exists. When you know what you want but it does not exists yet, that is a golden opportunity to come up with a new product, especially considering how unique you think you are but meanwhile actually you are more common than you realize, but this is good in sense the product you need is actually also needed by other many people who think and feel like you, of course if you fail; you create the product and no one cares, then you can be proud that you are a unique person; no one shares your desires and needs, on the other hand, in most cases, when you start with a need or desire, you will come up with a good design. When your need is to create the very best class, to do the best design, then you will come up with a great design.
