Onur Cobanli explains:
For centuries alchemists thought about how to convert elements from one another, while architects built actual bridges and buildings. Unlike alchemy or day dreaming, design is a scientific process, design follows the rules of mathematics, natural and social sciences, and aims to come up with a solution that addresses a specific problem. Today, what alchemy aimed is possible; you can smack atoms together to fuse them and change one element to another or break an element to smaller elements but it is not alchemy; it is design; it is science and it is engineering that allows this; because design, science and engineering follows the scientific process, and employs logic for problem solving. If you have a dream, the design process can help you achieve it; you employ logic, you break the dream, the idea to its sub components, and start coming up with ideas on how to tackle smaller problems and go to the bigger ones; you build from ground up. Given enough time and energy, there is nothing design could not achieve, no dream too big.
