Truly great designs are all works of art; when you see some exceptional design, there is always art embedded in it; because exceptional designs are emotional, they have value far beyond their functionality; and even if such great designs are no longer functional, they are kept purely for their aesthetics for they are works of art; but works of art in most cases are not designs; unless of course they are functional arts, but there is a thin line between functional art and design; great design is always functional art, but functional art is not always great design; because great design would require also the function to be performed very well.
