Make your designs customizable to the person, and they will like it more. In most cases industrial design as well as all other commercial design is about satisfying a large number of people, thus at the cost of the deviations, the design is for common people, the median, the middle of the curve, it makes the common people, the average joe very happy as it is designed for the average joe; but most people are not joe and thus there is space to move the design to their preferences and make them happy. Furthermore when people customize the designs they choose things that make them happier and of course they would like the end product more that way; what is not to like; it is everything they wanted.
