Good design is usually not something super new; in general it is something that builds upon an existing thing; but with a good twist; it is just different but not completely different; a small difference makes a big impact; people still relate to the archetypes and the common elements and as such understand the product better; when people understand the product people like the product, the difference helps sell the product.
