There are some designers that create a design and push it hard, via marketing, advertising and communication. From my experience, spending more on the initial design is worth a lot and is more potent in reaching people; a good design pulls you; i.e. it spreads easier and reaches prospects, editors, clients faster. Spend more time on designing first than try promoting it instead of spending some time on design and spending too much time in promotions.
