Having an award for your rough design is way better than having a polished design that is not awarded.

You may think that it is better to have your good design not awarded then to have an award for your bad design, but you are wrong. Exposure is what really matters, there are always those that will find even your rough designs valuable, you need to reach your audience. It sure is never a good idea to advertise your bad design, but it is absolutely worst idea not to advertise anything because you think none of your designs are good; you must start somewhere, because even the worst awards would provide a bit of exposure; sure it is best to join good awards with great designs, that’s how you should roll; that's the best case, but you have to start rolling with whatever you have, right now.
