Great designers constantly suffer from bad design.

That is the curse, when you are even a bit of a designer, not necessarily a great designer, you suffer from bad design, because you see it, you feel it, you observe it easily, and in most of the time, you are powerless to do anything about it, there are simply so many bad design around, which is terrible, but also a great opportunity; there are so many new designs that could be made to replace them, the World is literally full of opportunities for better and superior products, projects, services and experiences. From another perspective, this is about realizing things when you know things; imagine that there exists a hypothetical race of four dimensional space aliens, they appear as flickers of light in the night sky; medieval people would think them as stars, while modern people would observe and understand, and being a designer is about constant observation, and you see everything as is, it is torturing, but as I also said, it is also rewarding, because when you know the things for what they are, when you understand, you can take action, when you see why a chair is bad, you can fix it, when you see why an interface is bad, you can improve it, when you see what is wrong with the government, you have opportunity to do something about it, but let's be honest most likely you would just complain because not everything is easy to fix. Finally, the last reason is that bad design creates a bad precedent, it creates a false expectation about product prices, about product shapes.
